This photo was taken at Jumpoff Joe Creek and waterfall in Grants Pass, OR. I am heading back to CA several weeks sooner than expected. I have a vacant lot in Poulsbo in escrow, and I have hired an architect who is excited by the challenge of designing a zero-VOC home. I am astonished by the way this trip has unfolded. One study found that 60% of people who are diagnosed with multiple chemical sensitivities are at some point homeless or living in their cars because they cannot find housing that does not make them sick. I started to post on Instagram because I wanted to detail the difficulties we face, and I expected that I might post over the course of several trips north. During my first week in WA I confirmed that there were no suitable houses on the market. One came close but I decided not to make an offer. Plan B was to buy land and build my own home. I can’t believe everything came together so quickly and so well. I’ve read about people exhausting their savings trying, and failing, to build a safe place to live but I am going to continue to hope for the best.
