My new pump house equipment was installed this week. For the past four years I have been using a temporary system installed in a prefab garden shed. That system had a 10 gallon reserve, but this one has a 500 gallon BPA-free water storage tank. I feel much better prepared for the next extended power outage or snow storm.
Update: This had to be reconfigured in 2024. The well company thought the filter was a carbon filter and the plumber thought it was a sediment filter, and it was not positioned optimally for either. In addition, one of the floats got stuck and the tank overflowed. Here is the new configuration, with both a carbon filter and a sediment filter:
