Consultants

Paula Baker-Laporte. Paula is a chemically sensitive architect and the primary author of “Prescriptions for a Healthy House: A Practical Guide for Architects, Builders and Homeowners.” She is also the founder of EcoNest Architecture. Currently based in Ashland, OR, Paula has been consulting on healthy home construction for the chemically sensitive since 1998. I hired her as a consultant for my project, and I believe her ability to communicate with the architect and project manager in construction industry jargon made them take my chemical sensitivity concerns more seriously than they would have otherwise. Paula recently retired but her business continues, staffed by Andrea Allen Sis and Mae Yuuki, both of whom worked with Paula for over a decade before Paula’s retirement. They are both architects, and became full partners in Paula’s architectural practice in 2022. They carry forward and expand upon Paula’s work to serve their clients with the same care and enthusiasm. Corinne Segura. Corinne is a building biologist who has recovered from chemical sensitivity. She maintains a website, My Chemical Free House, in addition to working as a consultant. She recently added a Substack, to which one can subscribe. I did not hire her for my project, but I frequently referred to the articles on her website: https://mychemicalfreehouse.net

ShelterWorks, makers of Faswall. The Faswall website provides technical spec documents that are needed by architects, engineers, and contractors. In addition, a technical support person is available to assist during planning and construction. There are two websites: https://healthyshelterworks.com and https://faswall.com

Note: I am not paid a referral fee or other compensation for mentioning these consultants.
