After drywall comes drywall mud, followed by paint.
Drywall mud has not been a problem for me before but premixed versions can contain plasticizers, skin sensitizers, and more gypsum. Murco makes a hypoallergenic mud in powder form that has more natural ingredients. The project manager found a subcontractor willing to take the time needed to mix Murco, and after a lumpy start (Photo 3) I am happy with the result (Photo 4).
The paint is a Sherwin Williams Harmony formula. It is latex based and zero-VOC. There are mineral paints available but all paints seem to contain chemical additives and I decided this was adequate for my purposes. Most of my interior walls will be unpainted clay plaster. In two weeks the final coat of clay plaster will be applied to the walls made of Faswall blocks, which form the outline of the building. I’m hoping the paint color will be close to the color of the final plaster coat.
