This photo was taken just before sunrise from E Camino Cielo in Los Padres National Forest. I didn’t make it to the campground before it became too dark to drive safely so I parked at an overlook for the night. I was worried that a park ranger would rap on the window and tell me to move along, but when I drove out in the morning I saw many other cars parked at overlooks. What a spectacular way to greet the day! And a great way to mark my first night away from home in almost 20 years.
